Art for Thought: Printmaking Demo Thursday, July 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mercersburg

Join MCFA this Thursday, July 15, for a demonstration of printmaking by local artist, Lynda Beckwith.

Printmaking is the process of creating prints with an element of originality, rather than just being a photographic reproduction of a painting.
Prints are created from a single original surface, known technically as a matrix. Common types of matrices include: plates of metal, usually copper or zinc for engraving or etching; stone, used for lithography; blocks of wood for woodcuts, linoleum for linocuts and fabric plates for screen-printing. But there are many other kinds of matrix substrates and related processes.

Come learn about this unique art form as Lynda describes to us the many processes and materials that can be used in printmaking.

The cost is $2.00 per person and free for students. Light refreshments will be served. Parking and entrance are around the back of the church. Reservations are not required, but are appreciated. RSVP to mcfainfo@gmail.com or by calling 328-4777.
